About ‘The Garden Lobby’

Deriving its name from the central exhibition area within the Scottish Parliament, the Garden Lobby blog is aimed at providing commentary on major political events in Scotland. The Garden Lobby blog’s remit is to explore Scotland’s long and short term political landscape, through analysing the workings of and issues facing the Scottish Government, Holyrood, Scotland’s main political parties and, when relevant, Westminster.

The SNP’s historic victory in the 2011 Scottish Elections has changed the face of Scottish politics. Commanding a healthy majority in Holyrood, the SNP no longer require the support of others to pass their legislative agenda at Holyrood. How will the Opposition Parties adjust and can they find a coherent counter argument to the SNPs relentless positivity? This blog will aim to keep you updated on the political toing and froing and the reasoning behind such movements.

The issue of Scottish independence already dominates the news cycle in Scotland. Yet the Scottish Government will bring forth multiple pieces of legislation covering health, education, the economy and many other important issues before Scotland ultimately decides.  We will seek to explore these issues and many more, providing you with timely musings on Scotland’s unfolding future.
